A key financier for Donald Trump's 2016 campaign as National Finance Chairman and economic advisor, Mnuchin served as the 77th U.S. Treasury Secretary from February 2017 to January 2021, championing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, regulatory reforms, CFIUS oversight, and national security efforts against economic threats. Post-government, he founded Liberty Strategic Capital (and affiliate Liberty 77 Capital L.P.), focusing on investments in fintech, cybersecurity, and media, including stakes in Flagstar Financial, Lionsgate, and Satellogic. Mnuchin has served on boards like MOCA and the Whitney Museum and remains active in finance as of 2026.
