I. Basics

Founded in 2005, Trian Fund Management, L.P. (“Trian”) is a multi-billion-dollar investment management firm. Trian is a highly engaged shareholder, combining concentrated public equity ownership with operational expertise. Leveraging the 50+ years of operating experience of its Founding Partners, Nelson Peltz and Peter May, the fund seeks to invest in high-quality but undervalued and underperforming public companies. Trian collaborates with management teams and boards to help companies execute operational and strategic initiatives aimed at driving long-term sustainable earnings growth for the benefit of all shareholders.

Nelson Peltz

Nelson is the CEO and a Founding Partner of Trian Fund Management, L.P. He has served on the boards of major companies, including Procter & Gamble, H.J. Heinz, Mondelez International, Legg Mason, Invesco, and Sysco Corporation. He is currently the non-executive Chairman of The Wendy’s Company and a director at Janus Henderson Group plc and Madison Square Garden Sports Corp. Previously, Nelson was Chairman and CEO of Triarc Companies (1993–2007), owning Arby’s and Snapple, and Triangle Industries, the world’s largest packaging company. He also serves on boards of charitable organizations, including Weill Cornell Medical College, New York Presbyterian Hospital, and the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Peter May

Peter W. May is the President and a founding partner of Trian Fund Management, L.P., established in 2005 with Nelson Peltz and Ed Garden. Trian invests in undervalued public companies and collaborates with management and boards to drive shareholder value. Mr. May is the non-executive Senior Vice Chairman of The Wendy’s Company and previously served as its Vice Chairman (2007–2021). He was a director of Tiffany & Co. (2008–2017) and Mondelēz International (2018–2022). Earlier, he served as President, COO, and director of both Triarc Companies (1993–2007) and Triangle Industries (1983–1988). Mr. May is Chairman Emeritus of The Mount Sinai Health System, Co-Chairman of the New York Philharmonic, and serves on several cultural and philanthropic boards, including Lincoln Center and The New-York Historical Society. He also chairs The Leni and Peter May Family Foundation. A New York native, Mr. May holds A.B. and M.B.A. degrees from The University of Chicago, is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive), and received an Honorary Doctorate from The Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
